BATTERY STORAGE IN BAY OF PLENTY

Store the Sun
in Bay of Plenty

The Bay of Plenty is named for good reason. It runs along a warm, north-facing coast that catches sun for most of the day, and Tauranga is consistently one of the sunnier main centres in the country. North-facing roofs are the ideal orientation for solar in New Zealand, and a great many roofs here already have it.

EFS Solar designs, installs and supports solar and battery systems across the Bay. Every system is designed from an on-site assessment of your roof, shading and how your household actually uses power, then installed by electrical workers licensed under the EWRB using Tier 1 panels with warranties of up to 30 years.

WHY ADD A BATTERY IN BAY OF PLENTY?

  • A warm, north-facing coastline gives roofs here the orientation solar wants, which is the single biggest factor in how much a system generates.
  • The Bay has grown fast, and newer subdivisions in Papamoa and Pyes Pa tend to have simple, uncluttered roof planes that are straightforward to design around.
  • Powerco runs the lines network across most of the Bay, and we handle the connection and export approval for you, including sites where the local transformer limits what you can send back.
  • Heat pumps, pools and spas push a lot of Bay households into a high evening peak, which is exactly the load a battery is there to cover.

Every EFS Solar installation is carried out by licensed electrical workers, uses Tier 1 panels and inverters, and is backed by warranties of up to 30 years, with $0 upfront options available. We're proudly New Zealand-owned.

Battery Storage in Bay of Plenty, Common Questions

What does a home battery actually do?

It stores your surplus daytime solar generation so you can use it in the evening instead of exporting it. You swap a low buy-back price for a high avoided-purchase price on every stored kilowatt-hour, and with backup capability, a battery keeps your essentials running through an outage.

What size battery do I need?

Common home batteries store roughly 10–16kWh, which carries a typical household’s evening and overnight use. The right size depends on your solar generation and what you want backed up. We size storage from your actual usage data.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?

Usually, yes. We install batteries with new systems and retrofit them to existing ones. We confirm compatibility with your inverter during the assessment and recommend the right configuration.

Does a battery let me install more panels?

Yes. On single-phase power a 10kW inverter is normally capped at 13.3kW of panels (33% oversizing), but with a battery the allowance grows to as much as 200%, up to around 20kW, because the surplus generation has somewhere useful to go.

What batteries do you install?

We install premium battery systems from Energizer and Sigenergy, matched to your inverter and backed by 10-year warranties, with all electrical work carried out by licensed electrical workers.
